2-Day In-Person FDS, Pyrosim and Ventus Training Course
Course Description
This two-day, in-person seminar is designed for experienced FDS users who possess proficiency in generating input files independently. The workshop will guide attendees through advanced techniques in utilizing the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), PyroSim, Pathfinder, Ventus, and Results visualization software. The course is organized into several concise modules, each comprising a lecture followed by a practical session wherein participants will build example problems on their personal laptops. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who attend both days, pass the end-of-course quiz, and complete the feedback survey. Access to lecture slides, and a video archive of the sessions will be available for 60 days after the workshop, through the Apex Erudition learning management system. A 90-day license for PyroSim, Pathfinder, and Ventus will be provided to all attendees 1 week prior to the event.
Course Topics
Utilization of the new Mesh Refinement tool and optimization of computational load balancing.
Complex geometry with OBST and GEOM and space-filling blockages.
Demonstrate multiple pyrolysis and flame spread techniques.
Configuration of complex gas-phase reaction stoichiometry
New statistics devices and improved controls
Use of a complex spray pattern library for sprinklers
Advanced visualization features in the Results Viewer
Integration of FDS Results with Pathfinder for FED and Visibility
Introduction to Ventus for Pressurization and Contaminant Tracking
Guidelines for Substantiating a Fire Model for a Given Application
The course is being hosted by Fire Dynamics, but delivered by Bryan Klein through his new training company Apex Erudition.
Course is held at Aviation House, 125 Kingsway, London, WC2B 6NH. Directly opposite Holborn Tube Station.
